Nurse passes away shortly after Northern California medical helicopter crashes on Highway 50
REACH Air Medical Services reported on Saturday that one of the individuals on board the helicopter that crashed in Sacramento, nurse Suzie Smith, has succumbed to her injuries. Smith, who had been in critical condition following the accident on Highway 50, was praised by REACH for her dedication throughout her nearly 21-year career as a nurse and her contributions to the EMS and healthcare community. The crash occurred as the REACH 5 Medical Air crew was returning to Redding after a patient drop-off at UC Davis Medical Center. Pilot Chad Millward and paramedic Margaret "DeDe" Davis, also on the flight, are currently in critical condition. Smith's son Gabriel, in a heartfelt message on Facebook, shared that while the family is grieving, her legacy of compassionate care will endure.
