NTSB ties helicopter to previous safety concern pre-Montana accident
A Robinson R66 helicopter that crashed in eastern Montana last week, resulting in the tragic deaths of four family members of Illinois gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey, was the same type of helicopter involved in a previous safety incident, as per federal records. The incident, documented in a 2014 NTSB report, occurred when an R66 operated by Guidance Aviation struck a bird during a training flight near Baton Rouge, Louisiana, causing significant damage to its rotor blade. Despite the scare, the instructor was able to regain control and safely land the helicopter without anyone getting hurt. The NTSB is currently investigating the recent crash that claimed the lives of Bailey's son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren, while another grandchild was thankfully not on board during the tragic accident. The Bailey family is grieving over this devastating loss and finding solace in their faith and the support of their loved ones. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and the NTSB is expected to provide preliminary findings in the coming weeks.
