NTSB releases initial findings on Copake, N.Y. plane crash.
Federal investigators are sharing details about the tragic plane crash in upstate New York last month that resulted in the loss of a Massachusetts family on their way to celebrate a birthday and Passover in the Catskills. The victims, including notable individuals like Karenna Groff, her physician parents Dr. Michael Groff and Dr. Joy Saini, and others, were on their way to the celebration on April 12 when the crash occurred. The National Transportation Safety Board issued a preliminary report, stating that the private plane had departed from White Plains and was headed to Hudson. The pilot missed the initial approach to the airport runway, received new landing instructions, but unfortunately, the plane went down in the snow-covered terrain south of the airport. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with weather conditions at the time being considered as a factor impacting visibility.
