NTSB: Crew attempted to manage UPS cargo flight before crash.
In the recent tragic crash of UPS Flight 2976 in Louisville, Kentucky, at least 13 people lost their lives after a repeating bell was heard in the cockpit shortly after takeoff thrust was initiated, as revealed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Despite the crew's efforts to control the aircraft in the 25 seconds before the crash, the bell persisted until the end of the recording, indicating the aircraft's fate, as stated by NTSB member Todd Inman. The NTSB plans to release a preliminary report in approximately one month, as they investigate the 34-year-old MD-11 freighter that destroyed two businesses near the Louisville airport. One of the plane's engines detached during the runway descent, prompting further scrutiny into the maintenance history of the aircraft, which recently underwent repairs in Texas. The investigation team is also focusing on debris from the engine found on the runway. The cockpit voice recorder's transcript, holding over two hours of audio, will be disclosed to the public in the coming months, according to Inman. It is known that air crashes often have a combination of causes.
