Northbound I-15 reopens following deadly accident; delays anticipated

Northbound I-15 has been reopened following a fatal crash that occurred during Wednesday morning's rush hour, causing the closure of the freeway for about an hour. The crash took place on I-15 near North Temple around 7:45 a.m., resulting in the closure of the freeway at 400 South, with all traffic redirected to exit at 600 South. Although the left three lanes have been reopened for traffic just before 9 a.m., the two right lanes will remain closed for several hours up to the 600 North exit, following the involvement of a black pickup truck and a red Jeep. The driver of the Jeep sadly did not survive, with no further details released by the authorities at this time. The incident caused significant traffic congestion during rush hour, prompting backups starting from 2100 North in Lehi, while city streets in Salt Lake County also experienced increased traffic flow as motorists sought alternate routes. A prior separate crash occurred near the 600 North exit, leading to delays in the right lane of I-15, reaching back toward the I-80 interchange. Be sure to check for updates as this situation develops.
