Northbound I-15 closed in Tremonton after fatal wrong-way collision

<p>TREMONTON — Northbound I-15 is has reopened in Tremonton after a wrong-way collision that killed a 77-year-old woman Tuesday.</p><p>The crash occurred at 11:44 a.m. near the 5200 West exit when a gray Ford Focus traveling the wrong way struck a northbound white Toyota 4Runner head-on, according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.</p><p>Both vehicles struck the median, and the 4Runner rolled onto its side, troopers said. The driver of the Focus, a 77-year-old woman, died at the scene and the driver of the 4Runner was taken to the hospital with critical injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening, the release says.</p><p>Officials have not identified the woman who was killed.</p><p>All northbound lanes were closed for a couple of hours but were open shortly after 2 p.m.</p><p>A witness of the collision told investigators he &quot&#x3B;though he may have seen the Ford Focus make a U-turn to go southbound from the northbound on-ramp immediately before (the) collision,&quot&#x3B; troopers said, but investigators are still trying to determine why the driver was traveling the wrong way.</p><p><em>This story may be updated.</em></p>
