Northbound 405 Freeway closed due to motorcycle officer crash

A motorcycle officer from the Santa Monica Police Department was involved in a crash on the northbound 405 Freeway on Thursday evening, causing significant traffic congestion. The details of the multi-vehicle crash are limited, and it is unclear how it occurred exactly. The incident took place at Roscoe Boulevard and as Sky5 reached the scene around 8 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers were seen attending to the officer laying in the carpool lane. Despite the situation, the officer was alert, conscious, and breathing, even moving his arms as medical personnel from the L.A. city fire department worked through the heavy traffic to reach the crash site. Traffic on the southbound side was also impacted as vehicles slowed down passing the scene. The California Highway Patrol closed the northbound lanes while the SMPD officer received evaluation and treatment, eventually being transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, there were no reports of other motorists getting hurt. The duration of the closure of northbound lanes was uncertain as authorities conducted investigations and cleanup.
