New video challenges ruling in 5-year-old's school bus death
Attorneys representing the parents of a 5-year-old boy who tragically lost his life after being struck by a school bus in Sussex have shared new video evidence contesting the official ruling of accidental death. The recently released footage juxtaposes scenes of Finn Katona walking amidst other children in different directions just before the fatal incident occurred in January. Despite the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department deeming Finn’s passing as accidental and declining to press charges, the attorneys are challenging this narrative. According to a statement issued by Finn’s parents’ legal representative, the designation of this event as a mere “freak accident” is deemed inaccurate and misleading given the details and circumstances surrounding the incident. The statement further highlights concerns about the bus transfer and disembarking procedure managed jointly by the Hamilton School District and Dairyland Bus Company, alleging that it posed significant risks to children. This development prompted the school district to subsequently modify its policy, eliminating the requirement for 4K students to switch buses during morning routes following Finn’s tragic death.
