Virginia State Police provided additional information regarding a collision involving an ambulance and a dump truck that resulted in the fatality of a Virginia EMT and the injury of two other individuals, on Thursday morning in King and Queen County. The accident happened when the dump truck was attempting to enter Route 360 from Fleets Mill Road at approximately 6:50 a.m. According to authorities, the dump truck was halted in the median to yield to traffic, with a portion of its rear section extending 40 inches into the road. The ambulance struck the driver-side rear corner panel of the truck, causing it to overturn into the median. The ambulance was not on an emergency call, and no patients were present at the time of the incident. Jacob Bozeman, the EMT who tragically lost his life, was identified as the victim. The Kilmarnock-Lancaster Co. Volunteer Rescue Squad expressed condolences and sorrow over the accident, emphasizing the tragic loss suffered. Witnesses recounted a distressing scene with numerous first responders present. Christopher Mack, the paramedic in the ambulance, and the dump truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical attention. The American Medical Response (AMR) conveyed sympathies to the affected parties and highlighted the dedication and risks that EMS personnel undertake daily.
