New evidence revealed in fatal crash blame on Kyren Lacy - Lawyer

Recently released video footage could potentially absolve former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy of responsibility in a deadly December accident that claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall, as indicated by his lawyer. The surveillance video, unveiled during a televised interview with HTV10, reveals the crash occurring about 73 yards in front of Lacy's vehicle. In the footage, Lacy's car is seen arriving at the scene shortly afterwards, maneuvering around the collision rather than colliding with it. Originally, the Louisiana State Police accused Lacy of causing the fatal crash by dangerously passing multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed, allegedly causing a truck driver to swerve and leading to the direct collision that resulted in Hall's death. These allegations resulted in charges of negligent homicide, reckless driving, and felony hit-and-run against Lacy. However, the emergence of new footage challenges this narrative. Lacy's attorney, Matt Ory, emphasized that the video contradicts the state's version of events, indicating that Lacy may not have been aware that his actions triggered the fatal accident. The district attorney's investigation into the case also raised uncertainties regarding Lacy's role in the collision. This conflicting information, supported by the surveillance video, contradicts the initial claims made by the state police. Lacy, who tragically ended his life by suicide on April 12, a day before his court appearance, had been in the spotlight for his participation in LSU's Citrus Bowl triumph in 2023. The revelation of this footage has reignited a discussion not only about the liability in the accident but also about the haste at which blame was attributed to a young athlete whose narrative concluded in tragedy.
