Nevada Traffic Safety summit tackles increasing fatal crash worries
The annual Nevada Traffic Safety Summit has a key objective: to enhance road safety across the state. According to Anita Pepper from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, efforts are being made to address the concerning issue of high fatality rates on Nevada roads. The summit focuses on various strategies like adopting new technology, improving infrastructure, enacting legislation, and launching public awareness campaigns. Nevertheless, safety advocates emphasize that achieving Zero Fatalities requires not only the actions of officials, but also the attentiveness and responsibility of drivers. Erin Breen, director of the Road Equity Alliance, expressed concerns about drivers' increasing negligence and urged for a shift towards safer driving behaviors. Breen highlighted the importance of addressing this challenge by encouraging drivers to slow down and avoid rushing, as speeding can lead to severe accidents and fatalities.
