Murray Baker Bridge’s westbound lanes closed after person struck by vehicle
EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A person was killed after a pedestrian was struck on the Murray Baker Bridge, resulting in the closure of the bridge's westbound lanes, the Illinois State Police said. According to troopers, the incident occured at about 5:50 a.m. near mile marker 93, which is the bridge that carries Interstate 74 over the Illinois River. A preliminary investigation, troopers say, indicated the person was struck and then taken to an area hospital for treatment before being pronounced dead. They have released no further details.
