Multi-vehicle crash closes I-40 Eastbound at Wagon Wheel
Emergency services personnel are at the scene of several crashes along eastbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 209.According to the Torrance County Sheriff's Office, roughly five separate crashes happened involving around 15 vehicles. According to Sheriff David Frazee, the crashes involved mostly semitrucks and a few RVs and passenger vehicles. Investigators told KOAT, the weather at the time was snowing and the roads were wet, but not frozen. As drivers topped the hill at mile marker 209, they were met with poor visibility.They said an initial investigation shows that a vehicle hit their brakes due to visibility issues and drivers behind them crashed. First responders treated a few drivers and passengers for minor injuries.Drivers can expect heavy delays.
