Multi-vehicle accident claims life of Yukon man
Officials are investigating a multi-vehicle accident that claimed the life of one person and left several people injured in Pottawatomie County. Around 1:30 p.m. on June 23, emergency crews were called to an accident along US 177 and Summerwood Lane in Pottawatomie County. Investigators say a southbound vehicle was attempting to make a left-hand turn and stopped to wait for northbound traffic when an unidentified vehicle passed the turning vehicle on the right shoulder. As that vehicle moved out of the way, a dump truck heading southbound couldn't stop and entered a broad slide. The truck crossed both north and southbound lanes, hitting multiple vehicles. Officials say the dump truck and a 2016 Ford Transit Connect caught fire after the impact. Investigators say the drivers and passengers in the vehicles were injured and 39-year-old Adam Calwell, the driver of the Ford, died as a result of his injuries.
