MSP: 9-vehicle crash shuts down I-96, sends several to hospital

BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Several people were hospitalized Saturday evening after a crash on I-96 near Clarksville that involved a semi-truck and eight passenger cars, state police say. It happened around 6:30 p.m. on eastbound I-96 near Nash Highway, according to the Michigan State Police. Authorities say traffic was stopped at the construction zone, but the semi-truck did not stop and ran into traffic. Multiple people were taken to the hospital, state police say. The crash shut down the highway. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, westbound I-96 was closed after Jordan Lake Road and eastbound I-96 was closed after Nash Highway as of about 7 p.m. "Please find an alternate route as the highway will be closed for the investigation," MSP wrote in a release. The crash remains under investigation.
