Motorcyclist sustains serious injuries in Chesterfield crash

An off-duty Chesterfield County firefighter sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle collision on Route 10 on Friday afternoon. The motorcyclist was traveling west on Route 10 near Womack Road when an incident occurred involving a white Nissan Altima pulling out from Womack Road onto Route 10. The motorcyclist collided with the driver's side of the Altima and was subsequently transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Chesterfield County Fire and EMS informed 8News that the injured individual was an off-duty firefighter. The specific vehicle the firefighter was driving was not disclosed by fire officials, but it was confirmed that the driver of the Altima was uninjured. Westbound lanes of Route 10 remained closed for several hours following the accident. The motorcyclist's condition was not provided by police as of 7 p.m. Friday, and further information is pending.
