Motorcyclist killed in 2-vehicle crash in Franklin Park, near O’Hare, police say; section of Mannheim Rd. closed

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash overnight in northwest suburban Franklin Park, near O'Hare International Airport, the Franklin Park Police Department has confirmed. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene, and both northbound and southbound lanes of North Mannheim Road have been closed between Grand Avenue and Waveland Avenue as authorities investigate the crash. Police say they anticipate the road closure to last several hours into Monday morning. Motorists are asked to use York Road to the west and 25th Avenue to the east to travel around the area. According to police, the crash occurred around 2 a.m. Monday between a motorcycle and another vehicle at Belmont Avenue and Mannheim Rd. Both vehicles were being driven by males and were traveling north on Mannheim Rd. when they collided just south of Belmont Ave., police say. No other injuries were reported, and the Franklin Park Police Department's accident reconstruction team is on scene.
