Motorcyclist hurt in I-264 wreck while fleeing trooper
A motorcycle rider in Virginia Beach was injured in a crash on Interstate 264 Monday evening after attempting to flee from a state trooper conducting a traffic stop, according to Virginia State Police. The incident occurred around 8:18 p.m. when a trooper tried to pull over a black 2009 Suzuki motorcycle for registration display issues. The rider of the motorcycle increased speed, changed lanes, and collided with a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The rider sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Eastbound lanes of I-264 were shut down, including the entrance ramp, for the State Police crash reconstruction team to investigate. As of just after 10 p.m., several lanes and the entrance ramp remained closed.
