Motorcyclist fatally collides with car in downtown Cincinnati

A tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in downtown Cincinnati, resulting in the loss of a man's life. The collision involved a motorcycle and another vehicle near West 9th Street and Plum Street around 1:11 p.m. The Cincinnati Police Department reported that a 2022 Kawasaki ZX14R motorcycle ran a red light while traveling west on West 9th Street, colliding with a 2017 Honda Civic that was heading south on Plum Street. This impact caused the Civic to strike two parked cars. The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old individual named Justin Piper, was wearing a helmet but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries after being taken to UC Medical Center. The driver of the Honda Civic suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to UC Medical. CPD is investigating excessive speed as a potential factor in the crash and is seeking any witnesses to come forward by contacting the Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
