Motorcyclist dies in deadly crash on Southside

A motorcyclist died in a tragic traffic collision on the Southside of the city. According to a report from CCPD Blotter, officers responded to a major accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Airline and Holly Road on Saturday, March 15 at 7:26 a.m. The crash involved a pickup truck and a motorcycle. Emergency responders took the 64-year-old motorcycle rider to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The pickup truck driver was unharmed. Traffic investigators determined that the pickup driver, traveling west on Holly Road, attempted a left turn onto Airline Road during a flashing yellow arrow while the motorcyclist, heading east on Holly Road, was struck by the pickup in the intersection. The pickup driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way during the left turn, but was not under the influence of alcohol. It is not confirmed whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
