Mother reflects on crash that killed daughter ahead of dangerous time on roads

It's been seven years since Kaylie Jackson was killed in a car crash on her way to prom. When Kailey's mother learned about the violent accident that killed a Lakota teenager in Liberty Township, memories came flooding back. "She was just an amazing person. She was like my little best friend. I had her young. We kind of grew up together," Kaylie's mother, Amanda Chapman, said.April of 2018, Kaylie was in a car with three other Monroe High School students for a night of celebration, when the drive changed everything. "We just took pictures. I gave her a hug, said I loved her, be safe and got in the car and I think it was 10 minutes later when the accident happened," Chapman said.Three teens were injured. Kaylie was killed."You remember all those little things. Your last hug, last I love you. You just remember those little things," Chapman said. The weight of her story was even heavier for Chapman last week when 17-year-old Sajandeep Singh, a Lakota student, was killed in a head-on crash in Liberty Township. Memorial Day to Labor Day is known to be the most dangerous time for teen drivers. That's why Kaylie's mom wants you to speak with your children about the responsibility they have behind the wheel. "I see all of her friends getting married, having babies, and I wonder where she would be and all the things she wasn't able to do," Chapman said.
