Mother in Northern California arrested after 11-year-old crashes car into house, officials report

A mother from Northern California could potentially receive a prison sentence of up to 15 years, following an incident where her 11-year-old daughter crashed a car into a home in Butte County, injuring three of the children in the vehicle. The crash, which occurred in the early hours of Monday on Bridgeport Circle in Magalia, prompted the California Highway Patrol to respond. The young driver had to be rescued from the vehicle by the fire department and was hospitalized with severe injuries. Additionally, two 10-year-old girls sustained a broken nose and head contusions. The other children in the car, an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, were unharmed and released to a guardian at the scene. The driver's mother, Cathryn Kreceman, who reportedly admitted to authorities that her daughter was behind the wheel, faces charges of child endangerment and is currently held on a bail amount of $350,000. Kreceman is prohibited from contact with her daughter and the other children involved in the incident. Prosecution proceedings are scheduled for August 13.
