Mother arrested after DUI accident kills 2 children in Napa: CHP

Two children have lost their lives in a car accident in Napa, where the driver is suspected of being impaired. The mother of the children has been arrested for driving while under the influence of substances, as reported by officials. The woman behind the wheel, identified as 31-year-old Yesica Barajas and a resident of Napa, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital after the vehicle veered off the road, crashing into a tree. The tragic incident took place on the southbound side of Highway 29 at the Imola Avenue off-ramp, with the California Highway Patrol receiving a report of the accident from another driver at 7:20 a.m. on Sunday. The two young passengers, a 9-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were fatally injured in the crash. The CHP suspects that alcohol, speed, and drugs may have played a role in the accident. While the names of the victims and the driver have not been disclosed, CHP has confirmed that the arrested driver is the mother of the deceased children. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward.
