Mother arrested after deadly Napa DUI crash, scheduled for initial court hearing

A 31-year-old woman, Yesica Barajas, who was believed to be driving while intoxicated during a recent crash in Napa County, has been taken into custody, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Barajas, who has been facing several felony charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence, was recently transferred to the Napa County Department of Corrections after being treated for severe injuries sustained in the Highway 29 accident. Tragically, her 9-year-old daughter, Aaliyah Montanez, and 10-year-old son, Damien Montanez, lost their lives in the morning crash on March 16. Barajas, already facing a bail of $1,500,000, is scheduled for her first court appearance on Monday morning. The incident, considered gravely serious by local authorities, occurred when Barajas allegedly crashed her 2006 Nissan sedan into a tree off the Highway 29 offramp near Imola Avenue.
