Morning traffic impacted by icy roads.
This morning in Northeast Ohio, there have been numerous accidents on the freeways due to icy conditions. Keep informed by checking the traffic map before heading out. Some road closures to note include the temporary closure and subsequent reopening of State Route 8 Northbound at Seasons Road, the closure of the 271 southbound local lanes in Beachwood, and the closure of the ramp from I-77 North to I-277/US-224 West due to a crash. Additionally, all lanes on I-77 North beyond Arlington Road were closed due to an accident but have since reopened. Be advised of delays on I-77 North at Arlington. A specific incident involved a crash in Macedonia where a semi-truck lost control on an icy bridge and hit a police cruiser parked on the side of I-271 SB, luckily resulting in no serious injuries. The Ohio Department of Transportation has crews working to treat the roads and bridges for slick spots this morning, advising drivers to stay alert, particularly on bridges, and give these crews ample space to work.
