The incident, near Wolf Road in Chicago's southwest suburbs, occurred when a car hit a deer, setting off a chain reaction involving five vehicles. Illinois State Police responded to the scene promptly at 5:45 a.m. and closed all eastbound lanes of I-80 until 7:30 a.m. when the lanes were reopened after investigation and clearance of the area. The traffic jam stretched from the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) eastward towards the crash location.
