A moped rider sustained serious injuries after colliding with a retaining wall on U.S. 19 in Clearwater on Friday, as confirmed by authorities. The incident, which occurred in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 near Seville Boulevard, prompted responses from both the Clearwater Police Department and Clearwater Fire and Rescue. Following multiple reports of the crash after 6:15 p.m., it was revealed that the moped had struck the retaining wall on the overpass's west side, causing the rider to be ejected over it and onto the road below. The injured individual was swiftly transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital as a trauma alert with potentially life-threatening injuries.
