Montgomery Co. Sheriff recuperating after car crash
Ten days after being struck while responding to a car accident, Montgomery County Sheriff David Charles has returned to work, stating, "I feel lucky to be here today thanks to the grace of God." Sheriff Charles suffered a bruised spine, sternum, and a concussion during the incident, but is steadily improving and working towards recovery. The sheriff was involved in the incident on September 21 on I-64 East near exit 113, when his vehicle was hit by an SUV while he was wearing a seatbelt and armored vest. Reflecting on the ordeal, Sheriff Charles expressed sympathy for the driver of the SUV and emphasized the importance of staying focused while driving. He also reminded the community about the "Move Over" law in Kentucky, urging drivers to adhere to it to protect emergency personnel on the road.
