Monks participating in 'Walk for Peace' hit by vehicle in Liberty County

Two Buddhist monks were hospitalized after reportedly being hit by a vehicle along Highway 90 in Liberty County last Wednesday. An incident occurred on eastbound Highway 90 near Tollway 99, as reported by the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. Dayton Police indicated that the monks were walking along Tollway 99 with a vehicle following them when a second vehicle struck the first one, which then hit the monks. One monk was flown to the hospital, while the other was taken by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims, Buddhist monks from Fort Worth, were engaging in a "Walk for Peace" from Texas to Washington D.C. to promote peace and mindfulness. After the accident, The Vindicator posted a video showing the monks continuing their journey with police escort. It remains unclear if charges will be pressed, and the conditions of the drivers are unknown. The individuals involved in the incident have not been named at this time.
