
Minivan driver apprehended for fatal March collision in Danville
A 73-year-old Danville man was taken into custody on Friday for felony vehicular manslaughter following a fatal collision at a busy intersection in March. The arrest of Andrew Chao comes after an investigation into the crash at the junction of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Ramon, near Interstate Highway 680 in Danville. Chao, the driver of a minivan involved in the incident, sustained minor injuries while a passenger in the truck was tragically killed. Authorities charged Chao after presenting the case to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office, resulting in his arrest and subsequent booking at the Martinez Detention Facility with a bail set at $50,000. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday at Martinez Superior Court.
