Milwaukee hit-and-run crash: Xavier Perez appears in court
Xavier Perez, a 20-year-old Milwaukee resident, appeared in court on July 21 in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident on the city's south side in August 2024. His initial appearance set a $100,000 cash bond, as he faces charges of second-degree reckless homicide and hit-and-run resulting in death. Perez's next court date for a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28. The incident involved a collision on August 26, 2024, where a gray Toyota SUV hit a building, resulting in a fatality. Perez was identified as the driver of a stolen white Cadillac SUV that was involved in the hit-and-run. Surveillance footage captured the Cadillac speeding and swerving into oncoming traffic before colliding with the Toyota. DNA evidence linked Perez to the scene.
