Military honors for 18-year-old victim of Grapevine Lake crash
Over the weekend, a funeral was held in Fort Worth for Ava Moore, the 18-year-old North Texas girl who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident on Grapevine Lake during Memorial Day weekend. The family, who asked for privacy during this difficult time, did not speak to the media but it was evident from the large presence of attendees at the service, including uniformed military members, that Moore had a profound impact on many lives. Moore, an aspiring U.S. Air Force Academy cadet, was honored with a full military funeral service at Met Church in her hometown. The solemn event was attended by her loved ones and community members, as she was laid to rest with military honors. Moore's promising future was cut short when she was struck by a speeding jet ski while kayaking, just weeks before she was due to leave for basic training. Authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. Gonzalez, who was driving the jet ski, faces a manslaughter charge, while Perozo, accused of aiding in the escape, has been charged with multiple misdemeanors. Both suspects, nationals of Venezuela who entered the country illegally, are being held on an immigration status.
