Migrant charged in fatal hit-and-run involving young girl

A man, identified as 66-year-old David Reynoso Jaimes, was taken into custody on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a fatal hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 4-year-old girl in southeast Travis County on July 11. Jaimes was charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony, and is currently being held at Travis County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Reports suggest that Jaimes was driving away from another hit-and-run accident near William Cannon Drive and U.S. 183 when he collided with a vehicle stopped at a red light on FM 812. This collision led to a child passenger being partially ejected from the back seat of the vehicle, resulting in her death at the scene. Jaimes, along with two others from the second vehicle, required hospital treatment following the crash. It has been revealed that Jaimes, who is believed to have entered the country illegally from Mexico, has a history of criminal activities and previous deportation. Given the serious nature of the charges against Jaimes, which include manslaughter, he is likely to face significant legal repercussions, potentially involving imprisonment and deportation, once the legal processes are completed.
