Miami Dade College student charged with speeding in fatal Hialeah crash

A Miami Dade College student, aged 21, is facing a charge of vehicular homicide following a tragic collision in Hialeah. Reportedly driving at a speed of 80 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone, the student, Kevin Brito Rios, was involved in a head-on crash that claimed the life of another driver. The incident occurred on West 20th Avenue near West 76th Street, where he crossed into the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle. Despite attempts by law enforcement to stop him due to reckless driving behavior, the collision led to fatal injuries for the victim. The judge at the bond hearing emphasized the severity of the offense, leading to a $25,000 bond and appointed legal representation for Brito Rios, who is now detained pending legal proceedings.
