Mexican man gets federal prison for unauthorized entry after hit-and-run in Dormont

A man from Mexico has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for illegally entering the United States after pleading guilty to a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Dormont last year. Saul Ramirez-Rivera admitted to the charge of illegal reentry of a removed alien. Earlier this year, he also pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and other offenses for his involvement in the crash that killed a motorcyclist, Christian Sluka. Ramirez-Rivera fled the scene with a woman and a child after the incident. Investigators found that he had reentered the country illegally after being previously removed in 2019. Once he serves his prison term, Ramirez-Rivera will be placed in immigration custody for deportation.
