
Metra lines experiencing significant delays due to car collision with bridge
Chicago commuters experienced significant delays during peak hours on Friday morning due to a car colliding with a bridge on the Northwest Side, disrupting two Metra lines. The incident occurred near Ashland Avenue and West Armitage Avenue close to the Metra Clybourne station. Services on the Union Pacific North and Union Pacific Northwest trains were impacted as the morning commute began. Although train services resumed by 7:00 a.m., delays and some cancellations persisted. Trains UPNW #609, #615, and #618 were not operational as a result of the crash, leading to the deployment of extra trains to cover the cancellations. UPN trains #305, #308, and #391 were also affected, with UPN #303 experiencing substantial delays. Information regarding the cause of the crash and the expected duration of delays has not been provided by authorities yet.
