Memphis man arrested for deadly shooting leading to car collision

Police in Memphis, Tennessee have taken a man into custody for allegedly shooting and killing a driver, leading to a crash into a parked car on a street in Binghampton. The victim, Christopher Carruthers, was discovered dead inside a white Chevrolet Malibu in the 700 block of Merton Street. The suspect, later revealed by a witness as Courtney Douglas, has been charged with multiple offenses including first-degree murder. The incident took place on December 8, and the following day, a woman who found the victim in her sister's car stated she did not know him. An eyewitness came forward on December 26, informing investigators that he had seen the shooting unfold and recognized the alleged shooter, known in the neighborhood as "CD," firing shots at the victim's car. Douglas has been identified by the victim and is currently in custody without bond, set to appear in court on January 6.
