Memorial Day crash involving trailer closes I-25 northbound, north of Mead

DENVER (KDVR) — A crash closed Interstate 25 north of Mead as of about 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, as many travelers took to the roadways. Colorado Department of Transportation cameras showed what appeared to be a recreational vehicle trailer that was on its side. It was hard to determine if there were other vehicles involved in the crash. Police and fire were at the crash as of 3:15 p.m., along with Colorado State Patrol. CDOT said that the northbound lanes were entirely closed beginning at Exit 245: Mead to Highway 56 at Mile Point 248. The road agency reported that Google was showing a 31-minute delay northbound and a five-minute delay southbound. CDOT showed traffic backups on the southbound lanes beginning near milepost 252, and backups were also visible heading northbound beginning at about milepost 245. The area has been undergoing construction and has been the site of many crashes, including a crash involving a murder suspect who fled his vehicle and was struck by oncoming traffic. This is a developing story. No information is yet known on whether there were injuries, if there will be complications in clearing the crash, or whether there are other notable factors in this crash.
