Memorial commemorates three victims of Mississippi helicopter crash
A ceremony was held at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison to pay tribute to the three crew members who lost their lives in a tragic medical helicopter accident in Mississippi. The memorial on March 21 honored Jakob Kindt, Dustin Pope, and Cal Wesolowski. The helicopter crash took place in a dense wooded area between the Natchez Trace Parkway and Pipeline Road on March 10. The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) confirmed that two UMMC employees along with a Med-Trans pilot were aboard the AirCare helicopter at the time of the crash. Fortunately, there were no patients on board. Pope, the AirCare base supervisor in Columbus and a flight nurse, and Kindt, a critical care paramedic, had both joined UMMC on August 14, 2017. Wesolowski served as the Med-Trans pilot. Following the tragic accident at 12:30 p.m. on March 10, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct an investigation.
