Medical helicopter called to I-55 in Ridgeland following severe accident
A portion of Interstate 55 in Ridgeland was shut down due to a traffic accident on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred before 3 p.m. on I-55 south, close to the Lake Harbour overpass, leading to three of the four lanes experiencing slow-moving traffic as of approximately 3:45 p.m. A blue Dodge Challenger was involved in the crash, overturning after possibly veering off the road. Emergency responders witnessed a medical helicopter landing on the highway to transport the Challenger's driver, who sustained severe injuries, to a medical facility. Chief Brian Myers mentioned that authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
