Mass casualty alert issued after bus collision in San Bernardino County Mountains
A bus carrying 36 people crashed in the San Bernardino Mountains on Sunday night, leading to a mass casualty incident declared by firefighters. The cause of the crash is still unknown, but early reports suggest that emergency responders arrived near mile marker 38 on State Route 330 in Fredalba, Running Springs, just before 9 p.m. The passengers, a mix of adults and teens, had attended a church event and were returning to Santa Ana when the accident happened. Of the 36 individuals, 20 were taken to the hospital, with three sustaining severe injuries. The rest reported minor injuries or were unharmed. The California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Department, and surrounding agencies responded, setting up a triage area at the scene. Highways 330 was shut down in both directions from Live Oak to Highland Avenue, leading officials to advise motorists to consider State Route 18 as an alternate route due to the uncertain length of the closure.
