Mason City man dies in multi-vehicle crash on I-35
One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 35 Tuesday afternoon. Just before 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Ford Fiesta traveling northbound on I-35 crossed the median near the 147 mile marker, just north of Williams in Hamilton County. The vehicle hit the tires of a semi-truck's trailer and was then hit by another semi-truck, according to the Iowa State Patrol.The driver of the Fiesta, identified as Reed Peterson, 68, of Mason City, was declared dead at the scene.The other drivers involved were treated at the scene and released, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.The crash shut down traffic on I-35 temporarily while crews responded to the scene.» Subscribe to KCCI's YouTube page» Download the free KCCI app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google Play
