Marquette lacrosse players die in Milwaukee accident, campus grieves

The Marquette University community gathered on Saturday to remember two students and members of the men's lacrosse team who tragically lost their lives in a car accident. The students were identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as 19-year-old Scott Michaud and 20-year-old Noah Snyder. The news of their passing quickly spread throughout the campus. Milwaukee police reported that Michaud and Snyder were two of six individuals in a vehicle that was struck near 27th and St. Paul, not far from the Marquette University campus. The driver responsible for the collision was arrested. Although Michaud and Snyder died at the scene, the four others in the vehicle, including two teammates, sustained injuries but are expected to recover. The university community came together to mourn during a Mass held in their memory, with all home athletic events canceled for the weekend to provide space for collective grieving. Marquette University highlighted that Michaud and Snyder were not only athletes but also excelled academically, both maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Michaud was pursuing a major in biomedical sciences, while Snyder had planned to study business. The university president, Kimo Ah Yun, shared an updated statement expressing condolences, acknowledging the impact of their lives on their peers, coaches, and families.
