Man's identity confirmed in Blue Mound grain bin accident.
In rural Blue Mound, a tragic incident occurred where a 73-year-old man, Thomas W. Ritter, lost his life after being trapped in a grain bin. The Macon County Coroner confirmed this information and the investigation is currently in progress. Previously, there was misinformation regarding the victim being airlifted to a local hospital, which has been corrected. Authorities, including the Macon County Sheriff's Office, Blue Mound Fire Department, and a Technical Rescue Team (TRT), were involved in the recovery operation. Unfortunately, it transitioned into a recovery effort and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
