Man's body retrieved by first responders following 'boating incident' at Washington County reservoir

A tragic incident occurred at the Prewitt Reservoir State Wildlife Area in Washington County, Colorado, on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a man. Witnesses reported that two men were involved in a boating accident when a boat began to drift away as they launched it onto the reservoir. One man on the dock attempted to swim after the boat but encountered difficulties and went underwater. The other man also struggled when he jumped into the water to help and was rescued by another boat. Despite efforts from rescue teams using sonar-equipped boats and divers, the missing man's body was recovered later that day. The deceased man's identity and cause of death will be disclosed by the Washington County coroner in the future. The authorities noted that neither of the men were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident, and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife agency is currently investigating the accident.
