According to Hansen, Wines had been eagerly looking forward to driving in the Isanti County Fair race, having spent a year preparing for it and expressing much excitement. The upcoming weekend held special significance for Wines and his wife, as they had planned to attend the fair together before embarking on their honeymoon trip to South Dakota.
