Man taken into custody for deadly February collision

A 47-year-old man from Grand Junction is facing charges related to a fatal crash in February. Jeremy Kaufmann is accused of causing the collision that resulted in the death of Peggy Chesney. The incident occurred at the intersection of Patterson and 25 Road, where Kaufmann's vehicle struck Chesney's Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on. Kaufmann sustained injuries, while Chesney tragically passed away from her injuries weeks later. Kaufmann admitted to driving above the speed limit, and cannabis was found in his system. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and multiple counts of reckless driving. Kaufmann's court appearance to address the charges is scheduled for August 22.
