Man taken into custody for deadly accident in Montana Vista region
A 29-year-old man from El Paso has been arrested by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office for his involvement in a fatal crash in the Montana Vista area over the weekend. Gerard Anthony Nelson Jr. is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter, as well as two counts of intoxication assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The crash occurred at Montana Avenue and Desert Meadows Road when Nelson's vehicle disregarded the red light and collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of 60-year-old Lucia Villa and injuries to two others. Sheriff Oscar Ugarte emphasized the importance of never driving while intoxicated, as it can lead to devastating consequences like the one in this case. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
