Man taken into custody, accused of DUI following deadly Interstate 35 collision

A man has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a multiple-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Saturday night on Interstate 35, as per an Austin Police Department press release. Jarrel A. Broussard, 33, was taken into custody by APD in connection to the collision. KXAN is currently seeking Broussard's legal representation and will request a statement once details are available. At 11:36 p.m., authorities responded to a crash involving several vehicles and a pedestrian in the 6100 block of southbound north I-35. Emergency services reported that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the interstate and unfortunately died at the scene. The victim's identity has not been disclosed as of Wednesday. This event marks the 69th fatal crash of 2025 in Austin, leading to 73 fatalities.
