Man spared from extra prison time after 2023 deadly crash
A man in Austin was recently sentenced in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in February 2023. According to court documents from Travis County, 31-year-old Miguel Villanueva-Ramirez pleaded guilty to a charge of collision involving death. However, he was convicted on a lesser charge of collision involving injury and received a 315-day prison sentence. Due to receiving a jail credit of 323 days, Villanueva-Ramirez will not serve any prison time as he already has more credit than the sentence term. The charge stemmed from a crash that led to the death of Luis Gonzalez-Morales, who was ejected from a vehicle during a rollover in east Austin. Police officers at the scene found several beer glasses and cans both inside and outside the vehicle.
